A week in the life of our pre-k class

 

 
Welcome to Mrs. Atnip's Class

rotating imageThe Pre K Class for children ages 3 to 4 provides well—planned learning centers that allow for child choice and self-directed play, small groups, and supportive teaching. The program is designed to provide the necessary skills and understandings to succeed in the transitional Kindergarten classroom and continue to thrive academically and socially.

 

Our Class Schedule

 

7:30-8:25 Fun With Friends/Mind Over Matter/Oral Motor
8:30  School day begins
8:40-8:55

Morning Circle (concept building & go/stop regulation)

8:55-9:50

Snack, Interest Centers, Toileting

M/W Speech Therapy (groups)

9:50-10:00 Clean-up; Fingerplays, Story, Songs, Pick a Friend
10:00-10:30 Adaptive P.E./Gross Motor (P.T. 2nd & 4th Wed. each month)
10:30-11:00

Environmental Engagement (outside time)

11:00-11:25

Selected Skill Development (Table Time), Centers,

Toileting, “Signing Time” (F)

11:25-11:30 Prepare for Lunch
11:30-12:00  Lunch
12:00-12:15 Pre-nap Toileting
1:45-2:55

Post-nap Toileting, Snack, Centers or Outside Time,

Special Activities (music, art, fun food experiences)

M/T/Th Music Specialist (2:30-2:55)

Wed. Kid Creations

Friday “Food Fun” &/or Outside Time (2:20-2:50)

2:55-3:00 Clean-up, Good-Bye Circle, Walk to Front
3:00 School Day Ends

The Toddler Class focuses on sensory-motor experiences. Children ages 18 months to 3 years of age explore the world with their senses and develop motor skills.

The LEAP Classroom for children ages 5 and 6 serves as a stepping stone for students by providing a child-centered, play-based kindergarten experience that prepares them for successful inclusion into a public or private school

setting.
